Five Days in Stockholm |
In December 2005, my friend Dilyan who lives in Stockholm let me know about 6th European Workshop on Microelectronics Education' 2006. He suggested that I participate in this undertaking and also to visit his house. I thought "Why not? It's time to show what I have made in the area of education..." Then I decided to tell a story about my teaching philosophy; I named it A Heuristic Approach to Teaching Analog Electronics. As I have been implementing this approach since 1986, I could not expose thoroughly it on the four page limited (it looks dull, doesn't it?) . So, in order to get a full notion about my work, I created also an enlarged, more dynamic and live web version.
The Arrival: Kista |
In the early afternoon on June 7, I arrived with a Lufthansa fly to Arlanda airport; then I went by bus to Kista (a town 10km north to Stockholm city) where my friend Dilyan was waiting for me. |
Kista is known as international leading Wireless Valley where over 400 companies perform R&D in an excellent innovation climate including Ericsson, Nokia, Intel, Microsoft, and Oracle. |
I accomodated in Mr Chip Hotel near the Electrum Building. |
The workshop was held in Electrum Building in Kista. |
Inside, the building looked very nice.
On Wednesday evening, a welcome party was organized in the foyer of the Electrum Building. Here, my friend Dilyan introduced me to the workshop organizers.
Then, we prepared an excellent working place where we arranged the poster, notebook and various illustrating materials. It seemed that I will do a great presentation tomorrow:) |
The Workshop |
On Thursday morning, professor
Hannu Tenhunen
opened the workshop. |
During the coffee breaks, I was presenting my work to the interested participants. Of course, I began telling my story to the most important persons:). |
... then I demonstrated the multimedia interactive products that I had located on the site circuit-fantasia.com. |
During the workshop, I was presenting my philosophy and implementation to other interested participants. I even managed to find a co-thinker in the person of Jachim Becker from Albert Ludwigs University, Freiburg, Germany. Later, I was deeply impressed by his oral presentatiobn about Spicy VOLTsim. |
The Banquet |
On Thursday evening, the workshop hosts organized a banquet. They transported us by a bus to the nice island Langholmen. |
The island was buried with greenery. |
The banquet was held in a beatiful old house. |
As usual, Prof. Hannu Tenhunen opened the meeting. |
Here, I became acquainted with the Japanese Yoshiki Yamaguchi from University of Tsukuba... |
Dilyan got in touch with Dr. Makoto Ikeda from University of Tokyo. |
It was very funny with our Japanese company. Yoshiki translated my name Cyril into Japanese; so, I knew that Cyril might mean 'noble dragon", which was presented by only two hieroglyphs:
CYRIL = noble dragon =Don't you think, it's very interesting? |
Walking through Kista... |
On the last workshop day, I decided to walk through Kista. A saw many young people, who were just graduated. |
Most of the young people were Arabian students who live in Kista. |
I even asked to snap two graduating girls and they agreed. |
In the German Embassy |
My friend Dilyan was invited by German embassy to celebrate the opening of World Cup Football 2006 and, of course, to observe the match between Germany and Costa Rica. It was a great pleasure for me that he asked me to accompany him. The reception began very well with well arranged buffet and, of course, a lot of perfect German beer. |
I joined with great enthusiasm the introductory part:) |
Some of people were observing the match inside the embassy while other stayed outside. |
The German hosts were prepared a special football goal, in order to test the sport talent of the guests. |
There were many unsuccessful attempts but Dilyan had managed to score a goal! I was so happy:))) |
Dilyan's House |
Of course, I had to visit Dilyan's house. He live in a nice housing estate in the west-south part of Stockholm named Satra. |
There were beautiful houses there, which were buried with greenery. |
Dilyan's house has a small yard... |
...where we had a coffee break:) |
The Old Town |
Saturday (June 10) was a nice day in Stockholm and Dilyan suggested to show the old town (it is just a small island). |
The coffee-houses were full of joyful people, who were delighted with sunny rays. |
I was impressed by an old MG car. |
Of course, we began our walk with the famous Vasterlanggatan street. |
It reminded me the native Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo and my favorite old Sozopol; so, I was feeling very well. |
Dilyan told me that the two buildings in front of us are renowned... |
...but I focused my attention on a young girl with beautiful long legs, who was reading a book before the Nobel museum:) |
We were observing a ceremony before the Royal castle... |
...then walked along monumental buildings. |
The Swedish Riksdag looked impressively. |
It was so warm that people were going into the ponds. |
Some people were cooling dawn in the pile-dwelling restorants... |
...while other were watching the matches. |
While we were walking we met Dilian's daughter Katya who just came from Gröna Lund, which is a popular lunapark. |
Finally, we did a excursion by a small boat... |
On the next day, I departed from Stockholm to Sofia:((( The end |
